By Vincent Ujumadu – Awka Monday activities were gradually returning to normal in Awka, Anambra State, with inter and intra city transport operating, just as the banks, shops, and schools were open for business.The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had declared every Monday as sit-at-home following the detention of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.Although the media and publicity secretary of IPOB, Comrade Emma Powerful had since announced the suspension of the sit-at-home unless the day Kanu would appear in court, some members of the group insisted that the weekly sit-at-home must continue.Following the apparent confusion, many people have been staying at home even without any threat.Yesterday, however, many people went about their normal businesses in the morning, while full business picked up later in the day.

As permutations, intrigues, and agitations over zoning of the 2023 presidential ticket heat up, a member of the National Executive Council NEC, of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has assured that the party will not disappoint Nigerians in its choice of the zone to fly its presidential ticket. Senator Ohuabunwa in an exclusive interview with VANGUARD in Abia explained that the reluctance of the party in zoning its presidential slot was deliberate and for strategic reasons. He said it was not politically wise at this point to zone such sensitive position due to the prevailing circumstances. Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, will today sign a bill for the establishment of the State Security Trust Fund into law, giving the State Security Network, Amotekun Corps, a legal and financial framework. This was contained in a statement made available to journalists yesterday in Akure by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Richard Olatunde. Dozens of people were killed in three separate attacks in different states in northern Nigeria. In the northwestern state of Kaduna, at least 34 people were killed and seven wounded after gunmen attacked a village there. Unidentified gunmen attacked Madamai village in Kaura … 34 residents have been confirmed dead following the attack. Seven others sustained injuries,” state security commissioner Samuel Aruwan said on Monday, later adding that the attack took place late Sunday. Troops came under fire before forcing the assailants to withdraw after an intense exchange, he said. Aruwan added that two suspects were being questioned in connection with the attack.
