VP Osinbajo In Uyo To Commission Projects Marking A’Ibom 34th Anniversary
Akwa Ibom state is set to mark its 34th anniversary with the inauguration of many projects by Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo beginning tomorrow, Thursday September,23 2021.
Though tomorrow has not been declared a public holiday, this year's celebration appears to be one with a difference as it will be low-key in nature and the star projects scheduled for inauguration.
At a press briefing held on Wednesday 22nd September at the NUJ Press Centre Uyo, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Com. Ini Ememobong told the press that this year's state anniversary celebration would be without much fanfare hence the elimination of the public in respect of the COVID-19 safety guidelines.
According to him, the 34th Anniversary is not without a line up of colourful events to make a remarkable experience which he said would include the inauguration of the Dakadda luxury estate in Uruan, near Uyo by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
"When he lands at the airport he will make his first stop at the Dakkada Luxury Estate to flag that off. The Dakkada estate is designed to provide maximum affordable housing for people.
"When he flags off the Dakkada Luxury estate, he would move immediately to the central business district of Uyo and inaugurate the Dakkada Towers.
"It is a smart and intelligent building fitted with the best communication and security gadgets. When he is done with that, his official visit to Akwa Ibom would have come to an end", he said.
Other activities of the state's Anniversary according to the State Information helmsman are the commissioning of two bridges in Obot Akara council area on Wednesday September 22, Inauguration of renovated General Hospital, Ikot Ekpene, commissioning of Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road, 12 Kilometres Secretariat road, 2.38 Kilometres access road to Akwa Ibom State University, Oil palm processing project, 2nd phase of 45 metre span bridges, 3.5 Kilometres David Lawrence crescent and commissioning of Internal roads at Shelter Afrique on September 23.
"The Governor and the good people of Akwa Ibom State will once again celebrate God's faithfulness, and blessings as the people roll out drums, celebrating 34 fruitful years," saying Akwa Ibom has come a long way and fortunate to have leaders who had made significant contributions to the development of the State.
He said Governor Udom Emmanuel with his vast experience in the financial sector came at a time the country had witnessed two recessions in eight years saying the governor has been able to manage the state's resources efficiently and has implemented an industrialization programme among others.
